Among them is Fatemeh Mollaie, an exceptionally talented and motivated researcher whose contributions have been applied to the transformative fields of textile science, prototyping, and digital fabrication at Fab Lab Armenia.
A Passion for Innovation
Fatemeh’s journey to Fab Lab Armenia was driven by her passion for blending material science, chemistry, and UI/UX design with hands-on digital fabrication techniques. More than just a workspace, Fab Lab Armenia provides her with the freedom to experiment, collaborate, and push the boundaries of innovation.
The Drive for Education
Growing up in Iran, Fatemeh was deeply influenced by a culture rich in history, art, and scientific achievement. Education and perseverance were emphasized from an early age, but access to opportunities in STEM and creative fields required extra determination—especially as a woman navigating traditionally male-dominated industries. Her academic background provided a strong theoretical foundation, but the lack of hands-on experimental learning in traditional education led her to seek alternative learning environments, such as Fab Lab Armenia.

Fatemeh’s academic journey is as impressive as her innovative work. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Textile Engineering. Her dedication to staying at the cutting edge of biochemistry, textile engineering, conductive fibers and nanomaterials drives her groundbreaking projects. Through rigorous research and unrelenting curiosity, Fatemeh ensures that the programs she designs are not only original but also impactful.

One of Fatemeh’s project is about advanced smart textiles designed to enhance wound care and enable non-invasive drug delivery. These applications could greatly benefit diabetic children for example and improve their mobility and overall quality of life while enabling better health management. Fatemeh’s ability to embrace complexity and transform seemingly impossible ideas into prototypes exemplifies her forward-thinking approach to innovation and is in harmony with the spirit of her colleagues at Fab Lab Armenia.
