Fab Lab Armenia Education Foundation Code of Conduct

We are all in this together.

Fab Lab Armenia Education Foundation team members and participants fosters a caring attitude to all members of the community, affirming the human dignity of all and placing service for others as central to living out our values and mission. We strive for social justice and inclusivity of all peoples.

Our Code of Conduct
is Based on the Following Pillars:

Rights

Every person working and co-creating at the Fab Lab Armenia Education Foundation needs to work in a safe, secure and enjoyable learning environment where:

  • All members of our Fab Lab Armenia Education Foundation Community feel welcome, valued and safe.
  • Access to a wide range of non formal education, social and co-curricula opportunities are provided.
  • The environment is conducive to effective learning and teaching.
  • Their possessions and the property of the College are respected.
  • Critical thinking, freedom of thought and belief as well as individual dignity and differences are
    respected.

Responsibilities

Let us remember that we are called to:

  • Be a positive role model; set an example through both words and actions.
  • Contribute to a welcoming, caring and supportive environment by showing consideration for each other and ensuring our words and actions cause no harm to others.
  • We strive to create an environment where diverse approaches to knowing, communication styles, attitudes towards disagreement , approaches to how to complete tasks, decision making styles are acknowledged as enriching our culture online and insitu.

Participants in this ecosystem undertake to:

Be welcoming:

We welcome and support people of all backgrounds and identities. Remember that we’re a global ecosystem.

Be considerate:

Your work will be used by other people, and you in turn will depend on the work of others. Decisions you make will affect others; please take consequences into account when making decisions. Always acknowledge other people’s work and contributions.

Be respectful:

Not all of us will agree all the time. This is a good thing and a very constructive process.
The strength of our ecosystem comes from its diversity.

Be careful in the words that we choose:

Do not insult or put down other participants. Harassment and other exclusionary behaviors are not acceptable. Be kind to others.

Understand why we disagree:

Disagreements, both social and technical, happen all the time. It is important that we resolve disagreements constructively. The strength of our ecosystem comes from its diversity. Focus on helping to resolve issues and learning from mistakes.

Innovation begins with inclusion.

We will not tolerate discrimination based on characteristics such as diversity in ethnicity, age, gender, gender identity or expression, culture, ability, language, national origin, political beliefs, profession, race, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and technical ability.

Everyone has the right to feel safe within the Fab Lab Armenia Education Foundation ecosystem.

We encourage everyone to participate in building an inclusive ecosystem. We seek to treat everyone as equitably as possible. When a participant has made a mistake, we expect them to take responsibility for it. If someone has been harmed or offended, it is our responsibility to listen respectfully, and do our best to right the wrong.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Offensive or unwelcome comments related to any of the previously outlined protected characteristics
  • Deliberate misgendering or misnaming. This includes persistently using a pronoun that does not correctly reflect a person’s gender identity.
  • Deliberate intimidation
  • Unwelcome sexual attention, including gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behavior
  • Pattern of inappropriate social contact, such as requesting/assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy with others
  • Continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease
  • Deliberate “outing” of any aspect of a person’s identity without their consent except as necessary to protect others from intentional abuse

Honor Code

To demonstrate integrity while refusing to lie, cheat or steal.

  • To tell the truth and ensure the truth is known. Do not lie.
  • To embrace fairness in all actions.
  • To ensure that work submitted as your own is your own, and that assistance received from any source is authorized and properly documented. Do not cheat.
  • To respect the property of others and ensure that others are able to benefit from the use of their own property. Do not steal.
